Spinning Again
I hadn't spun for quite a while, not since Sleeping Beauty. I'd broken the brake band.
Finally I got a new one though and decided to give it a whirl again.
I used some (I think?) Corriedale wool which I've had in my possession for quite a while.
Spinning was a little rough at first, but soon settled down. Plyed, it evened out very nicely and is overall probably a two-ply aran or heavy worsted weight yarn.
This is before dyeing. I had been planning to make a (shh!) SECRET PROJECT with blue wool but I was fresh out. Rather than buying some I figured I could just dye my own.
Not quite as royal blue as I'd hoped, but it definitely fits the bill.
A clue you say? For the (shh!) SECRET PROJECT?
Well, here you go.
That's all folks!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!
This is a drawing I drew from last year. It was for my friend Kayla who was about to play the part of Rapunzel in a show we did down at the Kansas City Irish fest. We're doing it again this year and I have the privilege of playing Rapunzel this time! I'm so excited!

Handspun Scarf
I don't know if I've ever posted about this. If i have, forgive me! :)
Last year for my birthday, I was given an Ashford Traditional spinning wheel!
It's absolutely amazing and I love it!
I believe this is the only handspun article I've taken pictures of.
When I was given the wheel, I promised my grandpa that I'd make him a scarf from the first yarn I spun.
It was uneven and lumpy, with a few knots in places, but it was remarkably soft!
The finished scarf is wobbly from yarn thickness issues, but I think it has a lovely rustic feel.
I hope to find time to spin soon...
