Trilogy Summer Show

This is the show that Chloe mentioned in the post before! I CANNOT wait to begin practices!!!!

Books With Pictures, Books With Words!

As quoted by Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast.

This was my first musical! (Not counting elementary school shows.)
I loved it soooooo much! It was super fun and everyone was awesome!
I'm still quoting lines around the house, and I think it would be hilarious to quote them at school, but not many people would get it. So I won't. But anyway... here's a picture.

Oh, and I had a microphone in the first scene, so when it came time for mic checks, I had to say my (one) line about 12 times. 'Is he dangerous?" Is he dangerous? I said, IS HE DANGEROUS?!?!
So one of the others kept asking me 'Is he dangerous?" So funny.  Also, there was a running joke about how I was a terrible mother. (My part was Lady with Babies.) In the first scene, I'm herding my child around the marketplace. Later on, I'm dancing and drinking in the tavern. (Gaston was the song, you may know it...) And then, off I go with a pitchfork to try and kill the beast! (Mob Song... ah, good times. Trying not to trip over my long petticoat was the main focus there...)

I had to curl my hair for a week - going to school with ringlets was interesting
But I got lots of compliments! :)
Oh, and Erin was in this one too. (See this post. She was Miss Warriner.)
There are more pictures on Trilogy's website, if you'd like to see them!

PS. I'm in another musical - one of Trilogy's summer shows. It's a combination of most of the Disney princesses. I'm Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Mia is a maiden.
Fun!

A 'C'? A 'C'?

(posted by Mia)

"A 'C'? A'C'? I go a 'C' on my coathanger sculpture? How could anyone get a 'C' in coathanger sculpture? May I ask a question? Was I judged on the sculpture itself? If so, is it not true that time alone can judge a piece of art? Or was I judged on my talent? If so, then is it not unfair that I be judged on a part of my life over which I have no control? If I was judged on my talent, than I was judged unfairly; for I tried as hard as I could! Was I judged on how much I had learn from this project? If so, then were not you, my teacher, also being judged on how well you transmit your knowledge to me? Are you willing to share my 'C'? Perhaps I was judged on the quality of coathanger itself out of which my sculpture was made.....now is this not also unfair? Am I to be judged on the quality of coathangers used by the dry cleaning establishment that returns our garments? Is that not the responsibility of my parents? Should they not share my 'C'?"

Vintage Cookbooks

Oh, the joys of thrifting. Vintage cookbooks for 3 dollars? Yay! This is the latest addition.

(copyright 1941)

And of course it's fun to see what people have handwritten inside, like in this one :
"To Jane,  for Bobby's benefit, with love to both - Marg."

When I was flipping through this on the way home, I came across a description for Norwegian Prune Pudding. (Actually, I think it must be a combination of Tapioca Cream and Norwegian Prune Pudding, seeing that there is actually not any tapioca in the Norwegian Pudding...) {Under the category 'Desserts Children Like'}

"Pieces of dark meaty prune, ready for the picking, float enticingly in creamy tapioca."

Somehow I don't think that this would be a well-loved dessert around our house...
Oh, and here's another rather strange recipe. (My Dad said to include this one.)

Braised Possum? No thanks.

But, there are many recipes that sound delicious. Fudge Cake, Gingerbread Upside-Down Cake, Blackberry Jam Cake, Kuchen, Hot Cross Buns, Potato Soup, etc. etc. etc....

Oh, and there's also Eel in Aspic. (not under the Delicious category!!!!!)
